Handling Heat
You know that saying, “if you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen?”
This week has been a spicy one for a lot of us. I know I’ve been feeling like I have some extra fire I need to shed. This weekend was what I needed to release that fire.
Instead of turning away and working to suffocate that heat, I have been working on ways to embrace that inner fire and allow it to burn out. Some of my favorite tools in the toolbox are cardio, spending time outside, dancing, singing, strength training, and journaling.
What practices do you use to handle the heat?
What’s Inspiring Our Team
Anna started reading The Artists Way - “It’s been recommended to me so many times and I’m finally making time to read it.”
Last week Eleanor started her Sunday bright and early moving and meditation with AAPI Club for their popup at the Logan Square Farmer’s Market, it was an amazing way to start the day!
Constance has “been feeling inspired with curiosity about somatic work lately! Recently, I had a clinical training on Somatic Experiencing Therapy and learned more about the vagus nerve. This vagus nerve regulates our parasympathetic nervous system which manages our body's ability to relax. Stimulating this nerve in times of stress can help your body shift out of fight/flight mode and become regulated. In the process of learning more, I came across reflections shared from a counselor regarding the vagus nerve and a simple breathwork practice she uses to activate her vagus nerve and, consequently, regulate her body.” Check out the article here!
